Polluted Mark Case Film

The Background

Bear encounters in Japan's mountain borders have surged, causing casualties. Existing measures—warnings and lethal control—fail to protect both humans and wildlife. Since bears navigate through scent and instinctively avoid other bears' footprints, we propose a new method of coexistence using this instinct.

The Resolution

Partnering with Montbell, we created 'Invisible Line', a biodegradable shoe cover. As people walk, it releases a synthesized bear paw scent. To humans, it’s just another step, but to bears, it marks an occupied territory they won't cross, safely preventing human-bear encounters before they happen.

Polluted Mark Case Film

The Background

According to MOHW Korea, eggs caused 6,838 salmonella food poisoning cases over five years, even leading to fatalities in 2022. While washing hands after handling eggs easily prevents this infection, most consumers completely forget this crucial step in the kitchen.

The Resolution

In partnership with 'Harim', we used water-soluble ink on eggs where hands touch most when cracking them. The ink stains the user's hands instantly. To remove the ink, they must wash their hands, naturally eliminating the invisible salmonella and building a healthy habit.

Polluted Mark Case Film

The Background

Breast cancer has long been represented by the pink ribbon, which often idealizes femininity. However, mastectomy leaves a real, visible scar—a physical record of survival and ongoing life. Current symbols fail to represent this raw reality, calling for a truer symbol of courage and recovery.

The Resolution

Nike turns mastectomy scars into a new Swoosh, a symbol reflecting the reality of continuing life. By transforming this personal trace into a shared symbol of moving forward, Nike supports survivors with adaptive products, empowering patients and reshaping how their reality is seen.

Polluted Mark Case Film

The Background

Over 40% of the world’s 7,000 languages are endangered, yet preservation stays isolated in archives. To survive, languages must enter today's culture. Since Gen Z defines culture through self-expression and customization, embedding these languages into their personal marks keeps them alive.

The Resolution

We treated merch as an extended brand canvas, building a strategy and design system that emphasizes quality, craft, and intentional brand application — letting materials and construction speak for themselves.

Polluted Mark Case Film

The Background

Worldwide, 8% of the population suffers from red-green color blindness, making it difficult to distinguish between green and red. Because of this, even the simple, everyday task of selecting ripe fruit at the supermarket becomes a frustrating challenge for them.

The Resolution

Partnering with Walmart, we made shopping bags using transparent blue film. Applying light transmission, the blue film cancels out red wavelengths. By shifting the focus from color to value, ripe fruits look darker than unripe ones, letting colorblind users easily choose ripe fruits.

The Background

Dining out creates meaningful experiences, but for wheelchair users, entrances are often blocked by steps. Among 16,500 Michelin-listed restaurants worldwide, two out of three are inaccessible by wheelchair. Even in the world’s top food guide, dining is not universal.

The Resolution

Michelin installs free, upcycled ramps made from recycled tires at inaccessible listed restaurants. These venues receive a new accessibility mark: Michelin Wheel. Listed in the Michelin Guide app and Google Maps, this evolves Michelin from rating taste to expanding who can reach great food.

Polluted Mark Case Film

The Background

In photography, human rights are protected by watermarks, but the true subjects—animals—lack basic rights protection, including a clean habitat. According to WWF, over a million marine animals suffer daily from ocean pollution, completely trapped in our plastic waste.

The Resolution

Partnering Adobe Stock with WWF, we introduced a trash-shaped watermark. When searching for marine animals, images appear trapped in it. To remove this 'Polluted Mark' and download, users must sign the marine protection campaign, directly protecting the rights of the animals—the true subjects.
